Examination System

MIPER have incorporated all requisite provisions for planning, conduct, evaluation of B.Pharm. & Pharm.D examinations under the purview of JNTUA Anantapur.

The basic orders/rules regarding examination fees, attendance and ratio of internal-external examinations components (30:70) are followed as per Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and Andhra University rules and regulations.

ACADEMIC REGULATIONS FOR B. PHARM & PHARM.D

B.Pharm:

The performance of the student in each semester shall be evaluated subject-wise, with a maximum of 100 marks for theory and 50 marks for Laboratory, on the basis of Internal Evaluation and End Semester Examination.

Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester every student has to go through both internal and external examinations. There are two internal MID examinations (30 marks in each semester. The duration of MID examination is 90 min and it involves both objective and subjective assessment of a student. The objective assessment includes 20 multiple choice questions of 30 min duration for 10 marks. The subjective assessment involves 4 questions of 2 marks & 3 out of 4 questions of 4 marks to be answered in 60 min.

For theory subjects, 70 marks shall be awarded based on the performance in the Sem-End Examination, 30 marks shall be awarded based on internal evaluation. The internal evaluation shall be made based on the average of the marks secured in the two Mid Term-Examinations conducted in a semester.

Eligibility for appearing Examination:

The student will not get the eligibility to claim for the Examination application form, if he/she fails to put-up min 80% attendance. Condonation fee is levied on the student for shortage of attendance from 70 % above to below 80%, provided the student submits the VALID and GENUINE reason. However, he/she shall not get the eligibility, if his/her attendance is less than 70%, he/she will be DETAINED (he/she will not be permitted to write the semester-end examinations). 

After completion of the examination, the answer papers will be evaluated at the Examination- Cell spot valuation and finally the results will be announced on the college website.

  • If any student fails to attend Internal Theory both Mid-I & II and / or Internal Lab Examinations, the respective student will not be eligible to appear for the specific subject- Theory and Practical- in the Semester End Main Examinations.
  • In the Semester End Examinations of all the subjects, the student shall get the minimum 40% Marks, i.e., 28 out of 70M and 12 out of 30 M, and an aggregate of 50%  (Internal + Sem. End) in  all  the  Pharmacy Core subjects, and an aggregate of 40% (Internal + Sem. End) in case of the subjects,  Remedial Mathematics / Biology,  Computer Basics, Computer Applications Communication  Skills, Environmental  Sciences etc.
  • For subjects like Remedial. Mathematics/Biology, Communication Skills, Computer Basics, Computer Applications and Environmental Sciences etc., the minimum score for a pass is 40% aggregate when the internal assessment and Semester End Examination marks are taken together.
  • In Core Pharmacy subjects such as, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis-I and Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry, etc, the minimum score for a pass is 50% aggregate when the Internal assessment and Semester End Examination marks are taken together.

If the student is absent for Theory or Practical’s– both MIDS and the Lab Internals, he/she does not get the eligibility to appear for the Semester-End Examination in Theory as well as in Practical’s of that specific subject.

Minimum marks for passing examination:

A candidate shall be deemed to have secured the minimum academic requirement in a subject if he secures a minimum of 40% of marks in the Semester-End Examination and a minimum aggregate of 50% of the total marks in the End-Semester Examination and Internal Evaluation taken together.

  • In the Semester- End Examinations of all the subjects, the student shall get the minimum of 40% marks, i.e., 28 out of
  • The students securing SGPA or CGPA in the range of 5.0 to 5.99 and have cleared all the subjects in a single attempt shall be declared to have passed in Second class.
  • The students securing SGPA or CGPA in the range of 6.00 to 7.49 and have cleared all the subjects in a single attempt shall be declared to have passed in First class.
  • The students securing SGPA or CGPA of 7.5 or more and have cleared all the subjects in a single attempt shall be declared to have passed in First class with Distinction.

Academic Progression

A student shall be eligible to carry forward all the courses of I, II and III semesters till the IV semester examination. However, he/she shall not be eligible to attend courses of V Semester until all the courses of I & II Semesters are successfully completed.

Note: However, for promotion into III Year (B. Pharm V Sem.), the candidate should not have more than TWO subjects in first year backlogs (I & II Sem.).

A student shall be eligible to carry forward all the courses of III, IV and V semesters till the VI semester examinations. However, he/she shall not be eligible to attend the courses of VII semester until all the courses of I, II, III and IV semesters are successfully completed.

A student shall be eligible to carry forward all the courses of V, VI and VII semesters till the VIII semester examinations. However, he/she shall not be eligible to get the course completion certificate until all the courses of I, II, III, IV, V and VI semesters are successfully completed.

A student shall be eligible to get his/her CGPA upon successful completion of the courses of I to VIII semesters within the stipulated time period (The duration for the completion of the program shall be fixed as double the actual duration of the program and the students have to pass within the said period, otherwise they have to get fresh Registration).
